Ginger

A rescued Indie, lost in Oman for twenty months, and found again.

Rescued as a puppy by PAL, Ginger grew up mischievous and full of affection, the classic Indie. She lived happily in Thane with Joey, another rescue, before her family moved to Muscat. In 2019, a misunderstanding left her lost in a foreign land. Friends travelled from India to search through the heat and open ground, and found nothing.

Hope faded, yet Bhargavi still slowed down for every dog by the roadside. One year and eight months later, a scruffy silhouette appeared on a drive near home, wearing a collar from a shop in Thane. They called her name. After a pause, she got into the car.

I didn’t expect her to remember me, and she didn’t. I had said goodbye to her as a puppy and met her again as a senior dog. After a while, she seemed to decide it was day one again, and we could start being friends afresh.
